5775 - "An Auspicious Year"

24 Tevet 5775

...This Thursday, the 24th of Tevet, is the yahrzeit of Rabbi Schneur Zalman, founder of Chabad. During the past year we have witnessed both tragic and unprecedented events in France. This is not by coincidence. According to Rabbi Schneur Zalman, as explained by Rabbi Ginsburgh previously, this year of 5775 possesses great potential for the coming of Moshiach. Therefore to gain insight into what has transpired in recent weeks throughout Europe, specifically in France, we need to first appreciate more about the spiritual battle that took place over two-hundred years ago: To flee the snake at all cost.

  1. This hit me today: whenever I say to people (or myself) that the world is so bad it's time for Mosiach. They or I say, wouldn't the Holocaust have been the time?

And maybe the answer is, geulah did start then with the ingathering of the exiles to EY, facilitated by the State in '48. And if Moshiach is to announce now, surely he was alive then.

So in a way Moshiach and Geula did start during the world wars.

  2. Israel, I agree 100%. Everything - like the dawning of the day - comes in stages as part of a process. Just like the exodus from Egypt was step one in a long process which took years before we entered and conquered the land and settled it, so now, too. Maybe in Gan Eden, a baby would be born on the same day it was conceived, but in this reality, humanity needs time to adjust and to develop. We can't go from 0 to 500 in 6 secs.

For my generation, the parents were the survivors of the Shoah and their children became the immigrants to Eretz Yisrael while their grandchildren are the ones who were born here. It is this third 'sabra' generation which is now coming to take charge and bring the process to its completion.

Clearly, the land itself has even returned to us in stages as we first got control of the outer areas of Eretz Yisrael and only 19 years later, got back Yerushalayim and it remains for us to fully conquer Har Habayit. That will come with days of Mashiach. but, you realize that each part was a step up in kedusha and each one has to be earned and prepared for, too.

    Anyway, just my thoughts.

Thanks, as always for your insightful comments! Everyone!!
